Last weekend we had a picnic on our center island to welcome spring. Casey was a trooper after spending the day at Downtown Disney!

Mama's Birthday
This year was a special birthday for Mama (aka Baba) because her good friend Miki san was here visiting from Hamamatsu, Japan. Jason and I got to stay with her a few years ago when we went to Japan so we were so happy to see her too. She was actually the first person we visited after we got engaged. She told us that a princess cut diamond is called a "miracle cut" in Japan. Bromo, Chelsea and K-Yam also came over and we all ate Jason's delicious tri-tip with Chelsea's famous mashed potatoes.

Smiles and Strouds
Today we visited Nini at her work where everyone was all smiles. Literally. Nini works at a dentist's office so everyone there has perfect teeth. Casey was excited because he just cut his first tooth! For dinner we went to a new must-go-to-everytime-we-visit-Kansas-City restaurant. STROUDS. Their pan-fried chicken melts in your mouth and their mashed potatoes are so deelish. I ate so much fried chicken I fell into a Strouds coma and could not move when we got home.

A New Freund

Today we met up with Todd, Jennifer and Harper Freund. Harper is just two weeks younger than Casey and has the biggest blue eyes. We ate Oklahoma Joes (mmm) for lunch while Casey and Harper got their play on. Harper had the coolest toys ever so Casey was in heaven. That night Grandpa Bill set us up with the spread of all spreads. Gourmet cheeses, tasty meats, fine wine, sitting out on the deck with family...life couldn't get any better.

At Last

This morning Casey finally got to meet his cousin Lucas, Uncle Brian, Aunt Stephanie, Uncle Sean and soon-to-be Aunt Stephanie 2. It was love at first sight. As if that wasn't enough reason to celebrate, it was also Nini's birthday. In the morning Sean made his amazing eggs (my stomach just growled thinking about them) and Brian made some tasty blueberry pancakes (mmm....more growling). It was so nice to sit down together and eat breakfast. When we finished breakfast we went on a walk to the park. The cousins got to swing while we all enjoyed the sunny weather. Then we went over to Grandpa Bill and Grandma Meg's house for a Cahill family dinner where Casey finally got to meet even more family, including Uncle Pat. Everyone gave Casey (and us) so much love. I think one of my favorite moments was when Casey met his great grandma Nana Cahill.

Up in the Air

Everything fell into place this year and we were able to make a week long trip to Kansas City for Spring Break. Jason and I had never flown with Casey before so we weren't sure what to expect. Casey did great on the flight. As we were getting off the plane he even got a "best baby ever" award from a stranger. Grandpa Bill was there to welcome Casey to "KC" with a big smile. That night we had some grandparent time at Nini's house, where Casey decided to be the happiest baby in KC.
